Sunday 5th March saw the first Japan karate Association England Young Instructors course.
Student’s from all parts of England as far north as York and as far south as Portsmouth attended.
The course which was taught by Sensei’s Adel Ismail and Gary Stewart was a great success and enjoyed by all.
Nathan Hampson-Jones, aged 16, attended the course…..
Having successfully graded as Shodan in 2015 I was keen to help Sensei Simon with training sessions at our Harpenden JKA Club. At the start of 2016 I started to help with the earlier sessions, mainly on Tuesdays. I really enjoyed working with junior grades at the Club and have continued to help, school exams permitting, throughout 2016 and into 2017. When Sensei told me about the first JKA England Junior Instructors’ Course, aimed at 14 to 18 year olds, I literally jumped at the chance to attend.
Held at the Westminster Shotokan Karate Club, taught by Sensei Adel Ismail and Sensei Gary Stewart, the Course focused on techniques (Kihon), Kata and was attended by around 20 Juniors. It was also a great opportunity to meet juniors (Brown and Black belts) from other JKA Clubs. I can recommend the course to any future Brown and Black belt juniors that are keen to help with instruction at our Club and look forward to helping out at sessions! Oss Nathan
