Charity – Fundraising by JKA Bristol (0 comments)
Bristol JKA held sponsored kata events this week (commencing 22nd April), to support The House of St Barnabas homeless charity. This is the official charity for JKA England.
33 Students from Yatton, Ashton, Southville, Kingsdown and Bristol University dojo’s competed against each other to continuously perform as many different kata as they could within an hour.
Despite the variety of ages and abilities, five Bristol dojo’s all achieved a combined total of 49 assorted kata within the time limit.
Bristol instructor Michael Harris said “The students really tried hard to support a charity that helps homeless people back into the workplace. From the three sessions held across the dojos, it was the Kingsdown karate-ka who excelled – with 21 different katas completed in under an hour!”. All in all, £400 was raised for this well worth charity.
