Norton Radstock JKA proves Karate is for everyone!26th March 2011It was a fun morning for all concerned when Norton Radstock JKA visited Three Ways School in Bath to run a Karate activities morning for the Keynsham and District Mencap Super Saturday Club on 26th March . A fantastic response at the session proved that Karate really is for everyone. The instructors, Rob Tidbury 4th Dan JKA, Steve Harris 2nd Dan JKA and Geoff Hooper 1st Dan JKA demonstrated how to make defensive blocks and how to attack with punches and kicks, which the children emulated with great enthusiasm. They also learned that Karate is about body control, balance and co-ordination. The session ended with the instructors giving a demonstration of kumite, which had all the children cheering loudly for their favourite competitor. The Saturday Club is for children with disabilities and learning difficulties whose ages range from 5 to 18 years. For information visit www.keynshammencap.co.uk Steve Harris also took JKA Karate to Fosse Way School in Radstock, North Somerset where he ran an eight week introduction to karate course as an after-school club. Fosse Way School is dedicated to pupils with special needs and the objective of the after school clubs is to introduce pupils to a different physical activity. All pupils trained hard and showed great effort as in the true spirit of Karate-do and were rewarded at the end of the course with a certificate of achievement.
