Tairyoku Summer Karate Camp

The first Tairyoku Shotokan Karate Club Summer School got underway on Monday 2nd August 2010 and took place at Honbu. Sensei Wellington had just returned from holiday on the Saturday and was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly Sensei Johnson had supervised the preparations for the course commencing on the Monday. The karate suits for the students had been ordered and had arrived in plenty of time which gave Sensei Wellington more time to be put the additional requirements in place in order to be ready for the start of the course. Students participating on the course received a FREE karate uniform, certificate for attending the course and for those attending the full five day course, a special mystery gift.

The course took place over one week, Monday 2nd August to Friday 6th, between 10am and Noon each day. A total of 16 students turned up to take part in the course, 15 of which were complete novices and the other student was already a TSKC member. From day one ALL the students displayed extreme concentration and potential I have not seen in a long time. The students soaked up the information given to them and took advantage of the opportunity to be in small groups and be taught by experienced DAN grades throughout the duration of the course. These instructors included two Nidan juniors, both of which are currently members of the JKA England squad. It gave the students the opportunity to see what can be achieved and provide them with two excellent role models.

At the end of the course, the students received their Mystery Gifts and Course certificates from Sensei Wellington and had the opportunity to join TSKC and be part of this very successful club. Beyond all expectations, Sensei Wellington would never have dreamed that 13 out of the 15 beginners would join. What a very successful course. All the students performed exceptionally well and did themselves proud. We look forward to seeing them in our regular dojos in the coming few weeks.
