Squad Selection
Students wishing to be on the JKA England squad next year are invited to the course on December 4th and the two day regional courses in January 2012. Any on wishing to be on the squad must attend.

COACHING ASSESSMENTS
Coaching assessments will now be undertaken only at JKA England Dan Grading Courses (including International courses). In 2012 these will be in February, May, September and December. Any Shodan 18 years and above who wishes to be assessed should contact his Club Instructor or Regional Officer for an application form and information pack. Exact dates can be found in the Events section.

First Central Region Kata Course
Tairyoku SKC were the hosts for the first Central Region Kata Course with JKA England Technical Director, Sensei Adel Ismail held at Honbu, Bierton dojo. All instructors were invited to bring along any Black Belt students, especially those interested in taking a DAN grading in September or December this year.

JKA England Team Success at the 12th Funakoshi Gichin Cup World Karate-Do Championships 2011
JKA England took a 17-man team to the most prestigious event in the JKA calendar which was hosted by JKA Thailand and held from 18th-21st August in Pattaya achiving silver and bronze medals. There were over 30 countries competing, demonstrating the highest standards of JKA Shotokan Karate that could be seen at any single event. JKA England were very proud to line up opposite Japan for the Senior Ladies Kumite Final which they eventually lost by just one wasari!

JKA Norway has the great pleasure of inviting all JKA WF members to the 25th anniversary of JKA Norway and its spectacular anniversary gasshuku in Bergen 24th-27th of November.

Dreams Come True Newsletter
Congratulations and Thanks you to all the clubs that helped us raise money for Dreams Come True. There is an article on page 4 of the newsletter, but the updated total is not £9000, but £10,716.98! Well Done!

All Grades Championships
For the first time, JKA-England hosted both the Black and Brown belts and Kyu Grade Championships on the same day. We had no idea just how successful it would turn out. With around 600 competitors entering and over 300 spectators, the K2 sports centre was the ideal venue for such an event which had earlier in the year also hosted the Europeans Championships.

Spring International Course
This year’s Spring course at Guildford had a phenomenal line up of international karate instructors; Sensei Tanaka (8th Dan – Vice Chief Instructor JKA); Sensei Oaska (8th Dan - Vice Chief Instructor and General Manager of the Technical Division JKA); Sensei Sawada (7th Dan – One of the most respected instructors in Europe); Sensei Inokoshi (3rd Dan – General Affairs Division JKA) and Sensei Ohta (7th Dan – Head and Chief Instructor of JKA England).

JKA W/F European Championships
With military precision, set up and operations were in full swing on Friday night, preparing the K2 Sports Centre in Crawley for the 2011 European Championships. Teams of volunteers and staff where carefully preparing the areas for the following days event. But it was worth it with one of the best European Championships we’ve known in recent times hosted by JKA-England.

LONDON / SE REGIONAL COURSE

Congratulations to the winners of the JKA England Attendance award!
We had three people last year who travelled to every course from Bath to Boroughbridge.
Well done to: Jason Fox from Tairyoku SKC, Tom Peebles from Stevenage SKC, Nasreen Shah from Chikara SKA and Christophe Denaro from Beckenham SKC. As promised, they will receive a certificate to commemorate their achievement and a year’s FREE membership to JKA England. |
